French clubs

Extra-curricular French clubs aim to provide children with an enjoyable introduction to the French language and culture through a variety of playtime activities adapted to different learning styles; in small groups within their school setting.

French clubs are run in a safe and relaxed context, sometimes outdoors in the school playground or field (weather permitting).

  • Small groups at KS1 and KS2 level
  • Familiar environment and friendly atmosphere
  • In case of Covid-19 restrictions: online sessions at school or at home with family (depending on school arrangements)
  • Balance and flexibility between online and offline activities

French clubs bring cross-curricular benefits while children gradually develop cultural knowledge about life as a child in a French-speaking country, along with important language skills and strategies:

  • Early memorisation of vocabulary, structures & grammar concepts
  • Special focus on pronunciation, phonics & literacy
  • Interactive practice in both receptive and productive skills
  • Challenge activities for budding linguists

Cécile is DBS checked and has attended Oxfordshire County Council Safeguarding Pupils briefings for school helpers/visiting club leaders.
